<\/p>\nA set of Michelin XeoBib tractor tyres has clocked up more than 2,500 hours of demanding slurry work and the tyres still have two-thirds of their tread remaining.<\/p>\n

Paul Nixon, who runs Selkirk-based contracting company R&S Nixon & Co, fitted the tyres to his Massey Ferguson less than two years ago, and says the investment has more than paid off.<\/p>\n
Nixon says: \u201cWe\u2019ve been delighted with how the tyres are wearing. We made the switch from using budget tyres and the difference in two years has been phenomenal.<\/p>\n
\u201cAny initial saving you make by fitting budget tyres is quickly eaten up, as we have found the tyres wear faster and therefore need replacing much more frequently. With Michelin we\u2019ve found the absolute opposite, the tyres last longer \u2013 meaning we really get value for money.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reinforced sidewalls and special rubber compounds make the tyres \u2013 which feature Michelin\u2019s patented Ultraflex Technology \u2013 extremely strong, even at low pressures, ensuring they last longer.<\/p>\n
Ultraflex Technology, which was launched 10 years ago, is renowned for enabling heavy farm machinery to operate with tyre pressures of less than one bar, helping to protect soil and enhancing crop yield.<\/p>\n
In the field, Michelin\u2019s XeoBib tyres reduce soil compaction by distributing pressure over a larger surface area, which helps to avoid rut formation and soil compaction.<\/p>\n
Nixon adds: \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic when a farmer comes out to see our work and his quad bike is making deeper marks in the field then we are. I won\u2019t hesitate to choose XeoBib tyres again when this set eventually need replacing.\u201d
\nThe tyres are designed to offer enhanced traction on soft ground, meaning users like Nixon benefit from fuel and time savings in the field \u2013 as the tyres create less rolling resistance, which reduces wheel slippage, saving fuel and ensuring the job is completed quicker.<\/p>\n
Alongside the XeoBibs, Nixon also runs two trailers on Michelin\u2019s CargoXBib tyres, which have continued to perform exceptionally over four seasons. Nixon replaced his trailer tyres with the Michelin fitments after a set of budget tyres wore out after only one season.<\/p>\n
