TyreSafe urges motorists to check their tyres

TyreSafe, the UK tyre safety organisation is reminding motorists to check if their tyres are legal and safe enough to carry them through the winter months when road conditions become more treacherous and accident levels typically increase.

Drivers heeding TyreSafe’s warning are advised to check three key items to maximise their safety on the road. Pressures should be checked to ensure they are inflated to the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended levels.

The condition of tyres should be inspected to ensure they are free from cuts, lumps or bulges. Finally, tread depth should be checked to ensure it is well above the legal minimum of 1.6mm around the entire circumference of the tyre.
