Prinx Chengshan opens R&D center in Hanover

Prinx Chengshan has opened its own research and development facility in Hanover, Germany with aim of better competing in tyre tests conducted by leading European magazines, while further building brand trust and gaining more direct access to OEMs and highly qualified specialists.

The newly opened Prinx Europe Tech Center (ETC) will be headed up by Stefan Fischer, an industry-renowned expert who brings extensive R&D and management experience from international tyre manufacturers such as Continental, Hankook, and Giti.

He will report to European managing director, Thomas Wohlgemuth and Li Chong Bing, head of global research and development in China.

Wohlgemuth said the aim is to “deliver tyres as quickly as possible that can compete with the most powerful products on the European market”.

“The focus will initially be on the flagship brand, Prinx. By 2028, the brand should establish itself in the top 10 in tests conducted by well-known magazines,” he added.

In addition to developing new product lines for all tyre segments, the Tech Center’s to-do list also includes evaluation on regional test tracks, the development of European original equipment, innovation projects, and strategic cooperation with external centres of excellence such as universities, research institutes, and material or technology suppliers.

In addition, the engineers at the Prinx Europe Tech Center will work closely with the company’s internal sales teams to incorporate market trends and customer needs into development at an early stage.
