Pirelli autographs prestige cars at Geneva

Pirelli unveiled ‘autographed’ original equipment tyres for prestige cars – tyres with unique markings on the sidewall, which indicate that the rubber has been specifically developed to suit each manufacturer at the Geneva Motor Show this week.

Pirelli_Pzero-_1-copy2These tyres are homologated to cater for the individual needs of each model, so that it also becomes the default choice for aftermarket replacement.
This innovation has been backed by the world’s car manufacturers, who have an increasing demand for exclusive and technically advanced tyres developed in collaboration with Pirelli’s engineers.

Some of the well-known cars to use Pirelli’s bespoke tyres include models from Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes and Porsche, as well as some of the most eagerly anticipated cars at the Geneva show, such as McLaren’s new P1, the new Ferrari Enzo and the new Maserati Quattroporte.

Pirelli’s benchmark tyre for development work with leading car makers is the P Zero family (P Zero and P Zero Corsa) – Pirelli’s Ultra High Performance range that is considered to be the world leader in the prestige sector thanks to its high technological content.

The P Zero was launched by Pirelli in 2007 and has continuously evolved in subsequent years thanks to technical partnerships with the world’s leading automotive constructors, who have chosen it to equip their most powerful and prestigious models.

The new P Zero tyres that have been developed in collaboration with manufacturers are distinguished by a unique marking on the sidewall dedicated to each car company, next to the Pirelli logo.

Each evolution is tailor-made for the individual requirements of every specific model, meaning that there is no longer a single P Zero designated as original equipment but instead a whole family of bespoke tyres with common ancestry. Each tyre answers the specific needs of the car it is made for. Among the most recent products are tyres for the Lamborghini Aventador, McLaren P1 and Maserati Quattroporte: all the result of close collaboration between Pirelli’s researchers and engineers from the manufacturer.
