More details of Kevin O’Mahony Memorial Golf Day

In April of this year, the Irish tyre industry lost a great character long before his time. Kevin O’Mahony, General Manager of S-Tyres in Cork was just 54 years old. 

Because Kevin was so well regarded by those who knew him and because he was such a great supporter of the tyre industry golf events over many years, the Tyre Trade Journal is hosting a Golf Classic in Kevin’s name at Roscommon Golf Club on Thursday, September 17th. A big turnout from the tyre industry is expected for the golf and the evening entertainment in Roscommon.

All that knew Kevin, know that he was the life and soul of any group lucky enough to share his company. He was also highly regarded by all that dealt with him over a long and distinguished career in the tyre industry.

Team Entry Costs and Sponsorship

A committee has been formed (details below) from many of Kevin’s friends and colleagues within the Irish tyre industry and we plan to have a great day and evening in his honour. We plan to present all proceeds from the day equally will between two charities – Enable Ireland (Action on Disability) Cork Branch plus the West of Ireland based Croí (Fighting Heart Disease & Stroke).

The cost per 3 person team is €150.

There will be a team competition plus an individual competition integrated too. The maximum allowable handicap for non-GUI golfers will be 18. Ladies will of course be very welcome. As will non-golfers to attend later in the day and for the evening.

Tee-times will be between 11am and 14.20pm. If we have more than 25 teams, additional groups will be accommodated before 11am. Donal Spillane at S-Tyres will have the time-sheet and take your team bookings. We will also try to accommodate matching up individuals and pairs into teams of three where possible.

Tee Box Sponsorship is €50.

Sponsorship (Tee boxes, prizes for the golf or the raffle) will all be publicly acknowledged on TyreTrade.ie (& weekly eNewsletter) and in the Tyre Trade Journal.

N.B. During the day, Roscommon Golf Club informs us that hot food will be available and the bar will also be open for business.

Presentation, Dinner, & Evening Entertainment

The presentations of prizes will take place in the lounge of the Central Bar on the evening of the classic. The prizes will include a specially commissioned trophy to the winning team in the name of Kevin O’Mahony (sponsored by the Tyre Trade Journal). In addition, we hope to have a special guest to present the prizes.

Prior to the presentation, food will be served from 8pm. The food and the music at the venue will also be sponsored by the Tyre Trade Journal.
