Michelin’s Axiobibs prove top choice for Carlow farmer

Carlow tillage farmer Kevin Nolan has specified his first set of Michelin AxioBib tyres on his new Fendt 828 tractor to maximise the potential yield from his 1,000 acres plus of land.

The tyres significantly reduce soil compaction and rut depth during ploughing and are versatile enough to go straight from the field to the road.

Nolan, who owns Nolan Farming in the South East of Ireland, explains: “We’ve been really impressed with how well the AxioBibs have been performing and we’re confident we’ll get a good life out of the new rubber. The Fendt 828 tractor is our main ploughing tractor so the tyres are worked intensively – they’ve already become a real asset to our operation.

“When we took delivery of the Fendt our local Michelin Account Manager, Chris Eakin, came on site to weigh the tractor, making sure the optimum tyre pressures were set according to the type of work we were undertaking. This level of service is really beneficial as it means we’re getting the most out of our tyres, whilst ensuring our soil is as protected from compaction as possible.”

Michelin’s AxioBib tyres are able to be set at low pressures as they feature the company’s patented Ultraflex technology – which allows the tyres to carry the same load at lower pressures, or heavier loads at the same pressure, in comparison with conventional agricultural tyres. This ensures better traction on dry and wet soil, a larger footprint with less soil compaction and improved fuel economy, plus improved driver comfort.

The AxioBib tyres are perfect for farming operations such as Nolan Farming, where ploughing is a key job, and higher-horsepower machines are needed to work fields faster. A 16 per cent bigger footprint compared to standard technology tyres enables the AxioBibs to provide superior traction in the field, saving farmers time and fuel.
