Michelin to close BFGoodrich plant in Tuscaloosa
Michelin North America has confirmed plans to close its BFGoodrich Tires manufacturing plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, by the end of 2028.
The company said that it will reorganise its U.S. manufacturing network for the BFGoodrich brand, consolidating nearly all production at its Fort Wayne facility in Indiana, while gradually winding down operations in Tuscaloosa over the next two years.
Michelin North America said the decision was made necessary due to “structural inefficiencies and increasingly competitive recreation/off-road markets”.
The Tuscaloosa closure will impact around 1,200 employees.
