Kumho looks back on an exciting motor sport season 2016

Kumho has congratulated Andy Yan winning his third drivers’ title of the China Touring Car Championship (CTCC).

After a spectacular race with heavy rain and three safety car phases, Andy Yan in his Ford Focus secured with his fourth place the overall victory of the championship with just six points ahead of second-placed Henry Ho in Honda Civic. Even under most difficult weather conditions on the Beijing FASC Circuit, the riders could rely on the stability and grip of the tyres by CTCC-exclusive supplier Kumho Tyre. Similar to the German Touring Car Masters (DTM) or the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) the CTCC’s is the most popular motorsport competition of china.

 
The spectacular season finale of the CTCC was the culmination of an exciting and successful motorsport year of Kumho Tyre. Traditionally, the Korean tyre manufacturer was also this year’s exclusive supplier of the Zandvoort Masters F3. In rallying last year was a good season of teams equipped with Kumho tyres. They were able to achieve top rankings on both tarmac and gravel surfaces included outright victory in the Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish national championships as well as numerous successes in rally competitions in the UK and Ireland. Especially to be highlighted is the performance of World Rally Championship (WRC) newcomer Janne Eronen, who won three awards in his first WRC Nestle Oil Rally participation in Finland. Eronen contributed on Kumho tyres the fastest car in the group N, won the “production car championship award” and was honored as the best newcomer. All such experience is considered an integral part of Kumho’s global R&D activity and flows directly into the further improving of high-performance road tyres of the Korean manufacturer. According to its strategy, Kumho will continue to be active in motorsports in the coming season. In addition to continuing its involvement in the Chinese CTCC and the European rallying Kumho currently negotiating further motorsport partnerships at the international level.
