Kumho Ecsta Sport earns ‘Very Good’ rating in summer tyre test
Kumho Tire’s newest product, the Ecsta Sport has achieved a ‘Very Good’ rating in Die Reifentester summer tyre test of 225/40R18 tyres. This hotly contested size category is common to many popular performance cars.
Die Reifentester assessed products from eight tire manufacturers, including Continental; Bridgestone; Michelin; and Goodyear. Kumho shared the overall top spot with Continental and Bridgestone.
It is the first reported test result for Kumho’s new Ecsta Sport tyre and it comes just days after an exemplary result was published for the tyre’s predecessor, Ecsta PS71, in a recent AutoBild test.

The ECSTA Sport particularly impressed the Die Reifentester team with its performance in the wet, stopping in 23.07m from 80km/h which was better than all other tyres on test and, along with the Continental Sport Contact 7, it was the only product to record a ‘Very Good’ result in wet handling.
Dry handling impressed Die Reifentester too, with the Kumho Ecsta Sport joining three premium brands with a ‘Very Good’ verdict.
The Ecsta Sport is an Ultra High Performance (UHP) tyre which offers the perfect balance of driving dynamics, safety, and mileage. In sizes spanning 16- to 22-inches, the tyre’s new blended compound reduces braking distance and offers high-precision handling and stability.
Matthias Bode, head of R&D Europe at Kumho Tire said: “We are delighted with this result from Die Reifentester. Kumho Ecsta Sport is designed to offer excellent performance for all motorists, including the most demanding drivers, and this test result is an excellent indication that we are on the right course.”
Kumho head of Europe – Tony Gangseung Lee added: “This test result demonstrates the commitment of Kumho to developing and producing exceptional tires which offer excellent value to the driving public. I am delighted to see the team’s hard work being so well rewarded in this independent tire test as we set new performance benchmarks.”
