Kumho confirms plans to build factory in Poland

Kumho Tire is set to build its first tyre plant in Europe in 2028, with Opole in Poland the selected location.

The Korean manufacturer this week confirmed Poland as the chosen site for the plant, with aims to commence operations by August 2028.

The Opole plant will produce passenger and light commercial vehicle tyres, with an initial annual capacity of six million tyres.

Kumho Tire has set aside an investment of over €500 million (KRW 860.6 billion) to build the factory, with plans for a phased expansion depending on market conditions.

Once operational, the Opole plant will complement Kumho’s new Hampyeong factory in South Korea, which is expected to commence operations by the end of 2027 with an annual capacity of 5.3 million tyres.

Both sites are expected to greatly improve Kumho’s production and supply network across Europe, Korea and North America.
