ITIA golfers head to the sunny south East

The annual ITIA golf outing was held in the beautiful setting of Bunclody golf course on 8th of May last. Despite a slightly damp start, the weather quickly cleared to make way for perfect golfing conditions.

52 golfers went to battle in a four person team competition, which ran simultaneously with the single competitions for visitors and members. Set in 300 acres of rolling parkland the course was in excellent condition and proved to be quite testing.

There was intense competition among the 13 teams entered with S Tyres team coming out the victors. Captain of the winning team Kevin O Mahony said: “It was a tough but most enjoyable course to play. Thanks to Anne Marie and the committee for organising the day so well.”

Winner of the President’s prize Martin O Halloran said on winning: ‘ It’s a real honour to win the President’s prize and I’d like to thank Kevin for putting up such a splendid trophy.”

Kevin Farrell, President thanked all those who supported the day: “we’ve had great support from our golfing members again this year. Bunclody have done a tremendous job to make this a most enjoyable day for our members and their visitors. Thank you to everyone who entered teams, brought prizes and sponsored tee boxes.”

Competitors were treated to a splendid barbeque complete with a locally sourced pig on a spit, followed by music from Seamus Walkers.
