Hankook unveils new winter truck tyre
Hankook has unveiled a new winter truck tryre, the DW06, a traction specialist for truck drive axles which is recognised for its balanced overall performance, particularly in wintry conditions.
The DW06 provides optimal traction and superior braking thanks to Hankook’s patented 3D technology. The DW06 is available in sizes 315/70R22.5 as well as 315/80R22.5 and 295/80R22.5.
The DW06’s tread blocks and kerfs are engineered with state-of-the-art Hankook 3D technology. The zigzag kerfs reaching down to the profile base provide consistently high traction performance throughout the tyre life cycle even in the later stages of wear. Due to their three-dimensional design, the kerfs also ensure high internal block stability. As a result the DW06’s mileage is increased while irregular wear decreases. Multi kerfs in combination with a special dimple design improve traction on snow and ice, provide a more even wear and effectively prevent the tearing of the blocks edges.
Moreover, Hankook’s Innovative Mixing System (IMS) provides for a more even distribution of carbon black particles and rubber molecules in the compounds. Together with longer mixing times at lower temperatures, the IMS significantly increases the bonding rate between the carbon black and the rubber molecules. Consequently, the DW06 generates less heat during the drive, which has a positive effect on rolling resistance and thus also on fuel consumption.
The directional 5-rib tread design ensures reliably high traction and shorter braking distances particularly on snow and ice. In addition, the specific kerf structure achieves an effective drainage of slush and water whilst also preventing picking up of loose debris particles. The extra wide construction in combination with the deep profile of the DW06 ensures high mileage performance and a particularly even wear pattern across the entire tread width.
