Hankook iON FlexClimate excels in all-season tyre test

The iON FlexClimate EV tyre from Hankook has received a clear purchase recommendation in the Auto Bild EV all-season tyre check and achieved top marks in the safety-relevant categories without compromising on driving fun.

The testers compared Hankook’s premium tyre designed specifically for electric vehicles against two other competitor tyres in the size 245/45 R 19, examining them across 10 categories. The Hankook iON FlexClimate won in six individual categories, and also topped the other test categories.

In the particularly important category of ‘performance in the wet’, the Hankook iON FlexClimate is said to have set itself apart from its competitors by achieving top place in all four individual criteria with the highest rating for braking distance, handling, behaviour in aquaplaning and aquaplaning when cornering.

On dry surface, the testers confirmed the “agile steering behaviour” and “good balance” of the Hankook tyre in terms of driving dynamics, which led to the best result for handling. The iON FlexClimate also recorded the shortest braking distance on dry road as well as an equally good result for rolling resistance, which is a critical factor in terms of vehicle range.

It came away with first place with an overall score of 1.4. “This all-rounder delivers balanced performance at the highest level for safe driving in all weather conditions. Its good driving dynamics do not compromise on driving fun,” the testers said.
