Goodyear launches 360° quality tests programme

Goodyear has introduced a new programme which has been designed to better support its consumers when deciding on which tyre to purchase.

The new 360° Quality Tests programme is designed to inform customers of the benefits of the new European tyre label, as well as over 50 criteria not listed by the label which are used by the company to ensure it delivers a quality product to the market.

Goodyear has, and will continue to openly support the European tyre label, it is a major step forward in enabling consumers to better understand a product that has been off their radar screen”, saysHugues Despres, Brand Director for Goodyear EMEA. “I’m confident the consumer will find the new tyre label both useful and informative and it is an important step in the right direction. But at Goodyear we want to go further. We believe that the label is not providing a fully balanced view of what our products deliver and that focusing on three criteria delivered by the label, we do not give our consumers all the right information they need to make their purchase. The new 360° Quality Tests program is our answer to this need.”

Information delivered to consumers via the new 360° Quality Tests program will include information on the three European label grades, but also the 15 key performance criteria tested by many Europe’s leading car magazines, including wet handling, dry handling, dry braking, cornering grip, durability, internal noise and aquaplaning and Goodyear’s own over 50 test criteria.

“The new program aims to deliver a balanced image of the tyre, taking into account three key sources of information,” says Despres. “At Goodyear, we have taken key performances like traction, stability at high speed, mileage, aquaplaning in curves and on straights, and many other criteria very seriously, as they build on our promise to deliver a high quality, safety-driven and environmentally considerate product. The progam also looks at ensuring consumers are well informed when it comes to understanding the benefits we deliver on. For example winter tyres, where current label grades are not always relevant, and add specific performance factors like braking on ice, braking on snow, ice traction, handling on snow, and so forth”.
