Dunlop Young Racing Driver for June announced

Congratulations to 20 year-old Sean Doyle from Wicklow Town, who has been selected as the Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Month for June.

Driving his Van Diemen in the very competitive Formula Ford 1600 class, Sean finished second and sixth in the two “Champion of Mondello” races, and then went on next day to take third place in both the second heat and the Final of the Formula Ford Festival.

He plans to complete the season’s FF1600 races, including the Leinster Trophy race at Mondello Park, the Martin Donnelly Memorial race at Kirkistown and the two International end-of-season races in Britain, the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch and the Walter Hayes Trophy race at Silverstone.

Sean began his motorsport career in Junior Rallycross in 2009, progressing to circuit racing the following year. He has taken runner-up position in both the Ginetta Junior Ireland Championship and the Global Lights series, and hopes to race in Britain or farther afield next year.

Sean works as an instructor at Mondello Park Racing School and is sponsored by Boss Security, Wicklow Tyre Services, Nissan Ireland, Brand Match and motorsport.ie. He very much appreciates the support of his family and of Morgan Dempsey and his MCP team.

Having been selected as the third Dunlop Driver of the Month for the 2014 season, Sean is now a contender for the prestigious Dunlop Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year Award and the historic Sexton Trophy. This award is presented annually and is supported by Dunlop, the Irish Sports Council and Motorsport Ireland.
