ContiSportContact 5 SUV scores tyre test success
The ContiSportContact 5 SUV has scored a further success in a tyre test involving 11 premium and budget tyres. In the current issue of the Russian specialist magazine “Autoreview,” the specialist in more heavily motorised, sporty SUVs came top of the class, leaving ten models from the competition behind (Autoreview, April 2013).
In their summary, the editors praised the braking distances on dry roads in particular – these were the shortest in the test field overall. They also emphasised the excellent wet braking performance as well as the precise handling on wet roads. In addition, the specialists drew particular attention to what are very comfortable driving characteristics for a sporty tire.
The editors of “Autoreview” tested the eleven tyre models in size 255/55 R 18 W/Y on a Porsche Cayenne. In addition to this car, Continental’s tyres are also suitable for a range of other SUVs with rim sizes between 17 and 20 inches. The tyre is manufactured in widths between 205 mm and 275 mm and aspect ratios of 55% to 35%, and is approved for speeds of up to 300 km/h. In addition to the recommendations from the specialist press, the tyre has also been approved by leading vehicle manufacturers.
The ContiSportContact 5 SUV is the “flagship” of the SUV tyre lines offered by leading European tire producers. Continental also manufactures further models for use on SUVs. These have been adapted to the vehicle concepts as well as the special (on-/off-road) usage conditions.
