Continental Tyres concludes Irish Car of the Year title sponsorship
Continental Tyres has today concluded its long-standing title sponsorship of the Irish Car and Van of the Year Awards programme.
The tyre manufacturer has supported the awards for more than 35 years, playing a significant role in the growth of the longest-running independent motoring awards in Ireland.
Tom Dennigan of Continental Tyres Ireland, said it was a “difficult decision to end our association with the awards”.
“We believe, over the years, through this partnership with the jurors of the Motoring Media Association of Ireland (MMAI) and the organisational support from Cullen Communications, the awards, have become the most trusted and respected new car and van awards in the Irish market. We are proud to have played a part in shaping that legacy,” he said.

“We have always valued the annual awards ceremony, which has become a key date in the Irish automotive sector’s calendar. It is a unique event that brings together key personnel from the vehicle manufacturers and the motoring journalists.
“We wish the next sponsor of the awards, whoever that may be, the very best and we hope that they go on to enjoy as long and rewarding a tenure as Continental Tyres has had,” Dennigan concluded.
MMAI chairperson Mark Noble, said Continental Tyres’ “professionalism and belief in the importance of independent, expert-led national motoring awards have been instrumental in the ongoing success and standing of the Irish Car and Irish Van of the Year Awards”.
The MMAI confirmed the Irish Car and Irish Van of the Year Awards will take place later this year, and hopes to announce a new sponsor in the near future.
