Continental to generation 3 truck tyres at IAA

Continental is set to launch a new generation of tyres at the 64th IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hanover, Germany this week.

From mid-2013, Continental will successively switch over all of its steering axle, drive axle, trailer and bus tyres across the world to the new generation 3. The successful second tyre generation provided a starting point for the latest developments.

The third generation takes the outstanding properties of the previous tyres, for example, high mileage, low rolling resistance, maximum safety and a high-quality casing with optimum retreadability, but continues on a higher level with regard to maximum customer use.

The main aim for the tyre developers was further reducing fleet costs for customers.
“The new tyre generation sees us provide customers in the transport and logistics industry with advanced tyres that will allow them to operate even more efficiently in face of increasingly tougher competition,” says Herbert Mensching, head of Marketing and Sales Truck Tires for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

He continued: “For the first time in the bus segment, Continental is introducing a complete tyre range for a specific target group with generation 3. The products were specially developed with the safety and comfort of passengers in mind. Continental has continually renewed its product portfolio. We have always found ways to improve products within a tyre generation and have immediately implemented them in production. The third generation sees Continental apply the latest developments in tyre manufacturing to its worldwide product range.”
