Continental launches UltraContact NXT with up to 65pc sustainable material
Continental has presented what it says is its most sustainable series tyre to date – the UltraContact NXT.
With up to 65 per cent renewable, recycled and mass balance certified materials, it is said to combine a remarkably high share of sustainable materials with maximum safety and performance.

Continental now claims that it is the first manufacturer to launch a tyre with both a high share of sustainable materials and maximum EU tyre-label performance in volume production.
All 19 sizes available will carry the highest possible rating (A) of the EU tyre label in rolling resistance, wet braking, and exterior noise.
The UltraContact NXT will be available for tyre dealers across Europe from this July.
Depending on its tyre size, Continental says the UltraContact NXT is made from up to 65 per cent renewable, recycled and mass balance certified materials. Renewable materials stand up to 32 per cent, while the proportion of recycled materials is up to five per cent.
Furthermore, Continental sourced an amount of up to 28 per cent ISCC PLUS mass balance approach certified materials from bio, bio-circular and/or circular feedstock.
The special logo “contains recycled materials” on the sidewall of the UltraContact NXT underlines the use of recycled materials in this tyre line.
It is also EV-compatible, making it suitable for various popular vehicles like the Kia Niro, VW ID.3, Mercedes-Benz EQA, and Tesla Model 3.
