Bridgestone partners with Bristol based medical heroes

Bridgestone is showing its support for a life-saving Bristol charity in the UK by fitting premium Turanza All Season 6 tyres to a consultant cardiologist’s vehicle in recognition of their outstanding community work.

As part of its ‘Become a Road Safety Hero’ campaign, Bridgestone is supporting Bristol and Avon-based Bravo Medics by supplying all-season tyres to support them in their critical first responders care for patients across Bristol, Bath, Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Bravo Medics assists the local ambulance service by deploying highly trained volunteer doctors – equipped with specialist medical equipment – to bring emergency department-level care directly to those in urgent need.

Hundreds of lives are saved each year thanks to Bravo Medics’ swift response, and Bridgestone has assisted by providing complimentary Turanza All Season 6 tyres to all of the charity’s consultants, with Dr. Glyn Thomas being the first to benefit.

Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Glyn Thomas said: “People often take tyres for granted, but they are the only four points of contact between your car and the road. We respond to a wide range of incidents, and around one in four are road traffic collisions. A significant number of these are tyre related, so we can’t stress enough how vital premium quality tyres like Bridgestone produce are.”

Kwik Fit fitted the Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 tyres to Dr. Thomas’ Skoda Kodiaq Sportline, providing greater peace of mind and impressive handling in all conditions.

Dr. Thomas added: “I’m delighted to be recognised as one of Bridgestone’s Road Safety Heroes. What really matters is the importance of checking tyre treads and pressures as I know from experience that this can be the difference between life and death.

“In my line of work, we get called out in all weather conditions, at any time of the day. I’ve experienced tyre-related incidents myself while driving, so having confidence in my tyres is essential to ensure I can reach patients safely, no matter how demanding the journey might be. The durability of these tyres is also of huge benefit for us.”
