Trio building ELT plant in Sweden
Michelin, Enviro and Antin have begun construction of a first end-of-life tyre (ELT) recycling plant in Uddevalla, Sweden, as part of a new joint venture.
The plant is expected to be operational in 2025 and initially aims to have the capacity to recycle around 35,000 tonnes of used tyres per year, creating up to 40 jobs in the process.
In addition to building the plant, Michelin has signed “a series of multi-year” contracts regarding the supply of end-of-life-cycle tyres as well as recovered carbon black and pyrolysis oil.
Investment firm Antin is a majority shareholder of the joint venture, Michelin a minority shareholder and recycling company Enviro has an option to become a “significant minority shareholder”.
