Toyo gets ready for winter with Open Country W/T

Toyo Tires Open Country W/T tyre has already proven itself to be a very capable winter performer in the hotly-contested SUV market – hence its choice by Audi as OEM fitment on its flagship Q7 model. Toyo_Open_Country_WT_NarrowDesigned as a highway winter tyre for SUVs, it has been carefully developed to drive safely at highway speeds in wet and wintery conditions. That said, with its clever compound and tread design, it is a capable all-rounder that can be left on the vehicle for most of the year.

The Open Country W/T incorporates a newly developed silica compound, offering drivers excellent handling and performance on wet and snowy road surfaces – a facet augmented by the attractive and functional asymmetrical tread pattern. Shorter braking distances can be achieved when compared to many other comparable tyres, particularly on ABS-equipped vehicles.

Three wide, straight grooves run around the circumference of the tyre, offering exceptional water expulsions characteristics, whilst lateral groves, with long biting edges give getter traction in all conditions. Multi-wave sipes give stability on all surfaces and will give much better irregular wear resistance over the life of the tyre.

A thermo-elastic tread compound gives a wide operating temperature range of between -15 and 23 degrees, making the Open Country W/T a tyre that can be left on for quite a few of the colder months. Offered in T, H and V speed indices and in sizes from 15” to 20” it also fits a great many applications.

As well as being highly capable, the Open Country W/T also features a high rim strip to protect the expensive alloys so often found on vehicles of this type. Sitting well over most wheel designs, the hard rubber shoulder should deflect all but the most ardent of kerb-kisses, meaning that you can leave your best wheels on for the cold season, instead of ruining the look of your vehicle with ugly winter wheels!
