Organisers of The Tire Cologne have reported on what they describe as a “strong” 2022 outing.
They say that the circa 300 exhibiting companies and brands from 35 countries were “highly satisfied” with the high visitor frequency, with around 12,000 trade visitors attending across the three days.
While it was the first staging of the show since the pandemic, exhibitor and visitor numbers were down on 2018’s addition; 533 exhibiting companies and 16,000 trade visitors were reported then.
This, in part, is due to the current travel restrictions imposed on China and Russia, respectively. The former because to Covid-19, and the latter due to its invasion of Ukraine.
However, having attended the opening day of this year’s show, The Tire Cologne 2022 provided a much needed breath of fresh air for the global tyre industry after a very difficult two years.
“The Tire Cologne delivered impressively, as an international industry platform and in setting the course for the future. This is the perfect template for elevating The Tire Cologne 2024 to the next level,” said Oliver Frese, executive director of Koelnmesse. “The Tire Cologne presented innovations and products from the segments of tyres and wheels, automotive services and workshop needs, tyre remoulding, as well as tyre recycling and disposal.”
Stephan Helm, chairman of the German association of the tyre and vulcanisation trade (BRV) added: “The industry so urgently needed the personal exchange and used The Tire Cologne to the fullest for networking and business. The mood was correspondingly euphoric during the three days of the trade fair.”
The next The Tire Cologne is scheduled to take place from 4-6 June, 2024.
