Techplus to launch new Haweka Side Cam Calibration wheel alignment system

Techplus, the sole distributor of Haweka in Ireland, is set to launch the brand’s new Side Cam Calibration (SCC) wheel alignment system, which has been specifically designed to calibrate the latest generation of Mercedes-Benz Actros models that are fitted with a camera-based driver assistant system – the so-called MirrorCam – instead of conventional main and wide-angle mirrors.

Mercedes-Benz says MirrorCam improves operating and driving comfort as well as road safety and at the same time reduces the fuel consumption.

However, in order for this complex system to function properly – for example after changing the mirror arm or the camera – a re-calibration is essential.

With its new SCC alignment system, Haweka offers a quality ‘Made in Germany’ product that was developed in close cooperation with Daimler Trucks.

Only a few steps are necessary to set up this calibration system, unlike some systems that require a folding rule, battens and adhesive tape.

The SCC system is mobile, guarantees enormous time saving and can be easily installed on any surface.

Two self-centring magnetic clamps, which are made of high-quality aluminium, are first attached to the drive axle.

Strong Neodymium magnets guarantee an extremely tight fit on the rim flange. The subsequent setup and the positioning of the targets is done in a very short time.

Red crossline lasers and the displacement targets ensure an excellent visibility on differently coloured workshop floors.Exact positioning of the shifting target to the given prescribed distances is possible via the laser range finder.

The actual calibration takes place afterwards via the diagnosis software of the truck.
