Pirelli, the official tyre supplier to Formula One, will welcome the annual Bavaria City Racing event that is due to take place in Dublin on Sunday 3 June.
Bavaria City Racing originated in the Netherlands in 2006, with the heart of Rotterdam city setting the scene for the annual Formula One celebration. After five successful editions, Rotterdam now boasts approximately 550,000 enthusiastic fans at each event, making Bavaria City Racing Rotterdam one of the city’s biggest crowd-pullers.
This year, the popular event moves to Ireland for the first time where a special racetrack is being constructed in the centre of Dublin. With the aim of making Formula One more accessible to the general public, this year’s organisers are expecting an attendance of over 100,000 people.
Jenson Button and the McLaren team are confirmed to attend the free event alongside the Caterham Formula One team. They will also accompanied by teams and drivers in other motorsport championships including GP2 – which is exclusively supplied by Pirelli – the World Rally Championship, Touring Cars, Le Mans and Superbikes.
Pirelli UK Managing Director Dominic Sandivasci said: “It’s fantastic to hear that the annual Bavaria City Racing event has moved from the continent and will be taking place in Dublin this year. Events such as these help bring Formula One closer to people who don’t usually get a chance to see the sport up close and personal. As the official tyre supplier to Formula One, Pirelli actively encourages this annual celebration and I hope that everybody enjoys the unique spectacle in Dublin next weekend.”
