La Liga champions FC Barcelona has taken its pitch refurbishment to a new level by installing artificial pitches with the hybrid artificial pitch infill ‘Pro-gran’ at its training ground, Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
Produced by Murfitts Industries, Pro-gran is a black rubber crumb artificial turf infill, made from rubber reclaimed from recycled tyres, and coated in polyurethane. It is engineered to offer a superior playing experience, due to lower surface temperatures and effective drainage. It also has no aroma, no airborne particles, almost no splashing and is said to be designed to last the “lifetime of the pitch”.
Pro-gran also releases no PAHs or heavy metals, and is REACH compliant as an article, making it one of the highest performing infills on the market.
Discussing FC Barcelona’s adoption of Pro-gran, Managing Director Mark Murfitt commented: “FC Barcelona are well-renowned for producing high-quality football, so it’s only fitting that they build a high-performance pitch which takes into consideration the safety of the players.”
Since its introduction to the world of football in 2017, Pro-gran has continued to dominate international fields and is now being played on pitches across four continents.
