This year’s National Road Safety Week ran October 7-13 and the Irish Tyre Industry Association continued its close association with the Road Safety Authority, in offering motorists free tyre checks and giving out free safety packs. Over 100 ITIA retail members took part, with over 5,500 packs sent out.
The feedback from members on how the week went, was mixed, with some reporting the week to be quieter than last year, while others had a busy week.
The ITIA held a media training day in September for a few brave volunteers, who followed up with some radio interviews with regional radio stations to highlight the week, for all members.
Retailers who used the week to get out of their outlets and target new customers found the week most beneficial. Supermarket intercepts offered a simple opportunity to talk to new customers, introduce their business and check the potential customers’ tyres.
