Maarciello dominates Hankook sponsored FIA Formula 3 European Championship

Raffaele Marciello (Prema Powerteam) continues to dominate the Hankook sponsored, FIA Formula 3 European Championship

The Italian, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, scored his sixth season victory at Brands Hatch in the UK. After the fourth of ten season rounds, he is leading the drivers’ standings with a huge margin from Swede Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport) and Lucas Auer (Prema Powerteam) from Austria.

At the 1.929 kilometres short track, the Zurich-born Italian coped best with the challenging conditions at the twisty and narrow circuit and initially scored a pair of undisputed victories. However, he had his first place in the third race taken away after technical irregularities were found on his car.

Premium tyre manufacturer Hankook is supporting the world’s best young driver category with tyres at the highest level. In the races at Brands Hatch, the many narrow corners were the biggest challenge for the team. “Traction was decisive to accelerate out of the slow sections at maximum speed,” said Hankook engineer Christophe Stucki. But everything has worked perfectly, he added.

“The performance was great.” The small stones that are put on the track by the DTM cars after drivers frequently run over the kerbstones, don’t play a role in the FIA Formla 3 European Championship. “In single-seater racing, you try to stay way fro the kerbs,” Stucki explained.
