Kumho debuts Ecsta Sport ultra high-performance tyre range

Kumho Tire has introduced two new ultra-high performance products to its European ECSTA lineup: the Ecsta Sport and the Ecsta Sport S.

Building on the strengths of their respective predecessors, the Ecsta PS91 and PS71, Kumho says the new patterns perfectly support the high-performance demands of powerful vehicles. Their increased durability is said to enable agile and precise handling, while the optimised tread’s rib design enhances stability at high speeds.

Strengthening Kumho’s status as a high-end brand in the European and global markets, the new models are the culmination of development work at the Kumho Europe Technical Centre (KETC) from 2021 to 2024, resulting in improved mileage and energy efficiency.

In particular, the Ecsta Sport S was recognised for its proven performance in a test conducted by TÜV SÜD, a globally renowned authority in testing and certification. Founded in Germany in 1866, TÜV SÜD offers strict comparison tests and quality certification services, earning it a reputation as a highly trusted, independent organisation.

In a 2024 test by the institution, which included five comparable tyres from other major manufacturers, the Ecsta Sport S was found to deliver greater performance than its competition. It outperformed the average of the comparable models in major criteria, including braking and handling on dry and wet roads, and delivered slightly higher performance in straight-line driving on rain-covered surfaces.

The entire range has been designed to be EV-compatible, leveraging Kumho’s proprietary electric vehicle technology to meet key criteria, including abrasion resistance and noise reduction.

Selected sizes are equipped with Kumho’s K-Silent system which uses polyurethane foam attached to the inside of the tyre’s tread to minimise both cavity and road surface noise.

In addition, Kumho says several sizes have been additionally reinforced to give them the HL (high load) capacity required to support the heavier weight of electric vehicles.

“The new Ecsta models are ultra-high-performance tyres built on our decades of technological advancements,” said Il-taik Jung, president and CEO of Kumho Tire. “We will continue striving to enhance our reputation as a global technology powerhouse and high-performance brand.”
