Jackie Wherity, Bridgestone Ireland has been appointed chairperson of the Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA), succeeding Paddy Murphy, of Advance Tyres.
At the ITIA AGM in January, it was decided that the position of Chairperson of the Association would be for a one-year term.
Jackie is the Sales Manager for Consumer Products at Bridgestone Ireland, a position she has held for almost 15 years. From Balrothery in North County Dublin, she is married to John and has two children, Sebastian and Zachary.
She began her career in an administration role with the company in 1997 and quickly moved into the telephone sales department where she first encountered and befriended many of the leading retailers in the Irish tyre industry.
After a brief sabbatical to Australia Jackie returned as an area sales representative for Bridgestone in 2002. Covering the Dublin and Leinster area she gained significant experience of the industry and its members visiting tyre businesses throughout the region.
Jackie has continued to develop her knowledge and skills and completed an MBA in 2012 and has participated in Bridgestone’s internal management programmes and attended a series of Irish Sales Institute seminars and lectures. She voluntarily presents the Junior Achievement programme for secondary school children in local schools close to Bridgestone’s Balbriggan base.
She has participated on the National Executive of the Irish Tyre Industry Association since 2012 and has been involved in key issues in this time. For her year in office Jackie would like to see more engagement from the membership, particularly around key issues of importance which affect everybody involved in distributing and retailing tyres in Ireland.
In her leisure time Jackie is interested in travel, reading and likes good food and the occasional glass of red wine!
