The Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) is teaming up with Athlone Training Centre to launch its first ever Tyre Technician Training Development Programme (TTTPD).
The Athlone Training Centre is part of Longford Westmeath Education Training Board (LWETB) and is committed to delivering an extensive range of training courses to its clients.
These clients include persons entering the labour market for the first time, persons changing career, persons wishing to up-date or acquire new skills and early school leavers.
This programme will receive partial funding from Skills to Advance, which is a new policy framework supporting working lives and enterprise growth in Ireland from SOLAS.
The level 1 programme has been designed by industry, for industry and will be delivered in a purpose built facility just off the M6. The Athlone Training Centre has a fully equipped motor area, excellent training classrooms, conference facilities and canteen services for all attendees.
As the training centre already delivers training for motor mechanics, the expertise in this area will be used to deliver the majority of the modules.
Unique to this programme is that it will be supplemented by guest lectures from motor industry specialists and experts in the areas of road safety, H&S and legislation.
