The Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Donal Dempsey, has many years experience in the Irish motor and transport industry, being a financial consultant to many of Ireland’s top transport firms and prior to that holding senior financial roles in large Munster based motor dealerships.

Donal understands the commercial requirements of manufacturer, distributor, and retail members and will promote the commercial development and training of ITIA members, as well as bringing added benefits to members of the association.

Donal is well aware of the opportunities and threats that face the tyre industry – low margin and a highly competitive industry that seeks to increase professionalism and training are all factors that Donal has faced when he is training transport operators.

The impending legislation on tyre disposal and the association’s actions along with the IRHA to offer alternative solutions are high on Donal’s list of to-dos in his first month in the job.

Donal stated: “It’s a learning curve. In transport I am an Industry expert, but I am learning every day, now I have a new learning curve to be successful in this position. “
