HSE focuses on tyre pressures

More than seven out of 10 of the National Ambulance Service’s (NAS) current fleet of approximately 500 vehicles, have under-inflated tyres, a survey has confirmed.

The Health Services Executive (HSE) says it is considering installing a monitoring system for its fleet to ensure optimal tyre pressure.

Since 2010, the Ambulance Service has had a monitoring process installed in vehicles at manufacturing stage. Due to the success of this programme, and to realise the value for money opportunities identified, the NAS is proposing a programme to retro-fit monitoring devices to vehicles manufactured prior to 2010.

This would enable the monitoring of all vehicles within the NAS with real-time diagnostic functionality of the fleet and associated identified equipment, and a flagging system to identify parameters that are breached, according to the HSE.
