Hankook Tire has suspended tyre production at its manufacturing facility in Daejeon, South Korea after a major fire broke out at the plant last Sunday, 12th March.
Local media reported that the fire broke out at the curing process area and soon spread to a nearby storage area due to strong winds.
According to reports, 210,000 units of tyres were burned during the fire that lasted for 13 hours.
No deaths were reported, with 11 people taken to hospital due to “inhaling smoke”.
Hankook says its Daejeon site generates about 16.5 per cent of its annual sales.
