At a board meeting today, 9th November, members of the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) elected Chris Delaney of Goodyear as president of the association for a two-year term of office starting on 1st January, 2024.
Delaney is president EMEA of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and currently serves on the board of ETRMA. He replaces outgoing president, Franco Annunziato of Bridgestone.
Meanwhile, Dr Ralf Holschumacher of the German Rubber Industry Association (WDK) was elected vice president at the meeting.
Following his election, Delaney said: “I look forward to working with the Secretariat and Members to drive ETRMA’s effectiveness and influence as the industry continues to face increased legislation and regulation.
“With elections to the European Parliament and a new European Commission, 2024 will be a crucial year for the industry as we strive to provide safe and sustainable mobility for all, whilst recognising the decisive economic and social importance of the wider rubber and tyre sector.”
Elsewhere at the board meeting, ETRMA members formally approved the application of Toyo Tires to become a full member of the association, effective 1st January, 2024.
Kenta Kuribayashi, president of Toyo Tires Holding of Europe, said: “We are pleased that as a member of the ETRMA we can actively contribute to the implementation of standards and their processes in order to create a favourable environment that helps us as a tyre manufacturer to ensure our approach to sustainability and to protect the environment and resources, but also to strengthen our competitiveness in the long term.”
