Goodyear unveils the EfficientGrip Cargo

The Goodyear EfficientGrip Cargo has been announced to succeed the Goodyear Cargo Marathon light truck offering up to 10,000 km greater mileage1. With fuel efficiency and increased mileage becoming even more important for drivers and fleets2, the new light truck tyre meets these demands thanks to its new silica compound and improved tread wear performance.

The EfficientGrip Cargo makes use of two innovations to offer a higher mileage3; a new silica tread compound and a re-designed tread pattern. The new compound increases the tyre’s wear resistance and enhances grip in wet conditions. The tread pattern optimises tyre stiffness and distributes pressure more evenly putting more rubber on the road. These features increase mileage by up to 10,000km.

By using a stiffer base-compound and creating a cool cushion layer, the tyre generates less heat compared to its predecessor, which results in 18% lower rolling resistance. The reduced temperatures and optimised construction improves rolling resistance by up to 18% in comparison to its predecesso4.

“The new EfficientGrip Cargo provides what van and light truck owners need most: a cost-effective tyre that lasts longer,” said Emmett Sheridan, Sales Director, Goodyear Dunlop Ireland. “The higher mileage and lower rolling resistance translate in to reduced running costs and that will be very popular with vehicle operators.”

The EfficientGrip Cargo is already fully compliant with the EU regulations coming into force in November 2018, with regards to tyre labelling.
