Cupra has selected a range of Goodyear summer tyres as original equipment (OE) fitment for the Cupra Born, its first fully electric road car.
Cupra has added to its range of hot hatches and crossovers in recent months, including its most powerful car ever, the Formentor VZ5, which has the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport as its OE fitment tyre.
Now, the brand’s first-ever fully electric road car, the Cupra Born, will be fitted with the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance. It will be available in sizes 215/55R18, 215/50R19 and 215/45R20.
This tyre is designed to give drivers high mileage and range, while maintaining great braking performance in both wet and dry conditions, according to Goodyear.
This is achieved through the high elasticity and flexibility of the tread to reduce wear, and a lower stiffness in the compound to facilitate the bending of the blocks, thus helping to evacuate water in the wet. Larger tread blocks increase cornering stiffness to provide drivers with greater stability in dry emergency manoeuvres.
Hans Vrijsen, managing director consumer OE, Goodyear EMEA said: “We are delighted that Cupra has selected Goodyear tyres as original equipment on the exciting new Born.
“We already enjoy a great relationship with Cupra, so it is a pleasure to be part of their first fully electric road car. Electrification is a key part of Goodyear’s strategy, and we have a wide range of tires suited to the unique demands and performance characteristics of electric cars.”
Goodyear and Cupra’s electrified partnership extends onto the racetrack, too. As official tyre supplier to Pure ETCR, the world’s first multi-brand all-electric touring car championship, Goodyear supplies cars to all of the 670hp electric race cars competing in this innovative series.
