Dunlop hosts motorcycle students on factory tour
Dunlop, one of the world’s leading tyre manufacturers recently hosted Vision West Nottinghamshire college students at its Motorsport factory in Birmingham. The 11 motorcycle students, aged over 18, were given a tour of the facilities courtesy of Dunlop employees.
The Birmingham based technical centre has a track record of race wins around the world, from the Isle of Man TT to Moto2 and Moto3. The tours gave an insight into the world of motorcycle tyre manufacture for the racing environment as well as current tyre technology in action.
David Rymell, lecturer at Vision West Nottinghamshire College, comments: “The trip was absolutely brilliant, all of the group enjoyed it immensely saying it is the best trip by far, we all felt very well looked after throughout the day and found it very informative and professionally carried out. This is the first time we have visited Dunlop and we will be sure to visit again in the future”.
Kate Rock, Consumer and Brand PR Manager for Dunlop comments: “It was great to pass on our knowledge to a generation of avid motorcycle students and it is important for the students to know that making a tyre is more than just rubber moulded together, it is a complex process which takes months of research to ensure ultimate safety, comfort and road feedback for the final user”.
Dunlop has 125 years of experience in high performance manufacturing and continues to invest in their manufacturing centre in the Birmingham. As one of Europe’s leading innovators in “race to road” technology, they continue to pass on motorcycle racing knowledge and inspire the next generation of motorcycle enthusiasts.
