Dunlop embraces charity auction of iconic bridge
For more than 30 years the Dunlop bridge at Donington Park inspired race car drivers and fans alike to not only live the dream but to enjoy it.
Since 2009 the bridge has been out of commission due to a revamp of Donington Park. In a recent deal signed with Goodwood Revival, the bridge continues to live on as it is auctioned off for a local Leicestershire charity called Hope for Cancer.
Established in 1977, like its close counterpart at Le Mans – the bridge became an iconic landmark which sits as part of Donington Park’s rich racing history. The bridge has been part of some of the world’s most watched races including British Tour Car Championship (BTCC) and MotoGP.
Dunlop has a longstanding history with charity support and has donated over £300,000 to charities since 2008. On the 15th September 2012, Bonham’s will initiate the Goodwood Revival auction where proceeds will go to Leicestershire and Rutland’s based charity – Hope for Cancer.
The charity which launched in 2002 (by the late Allison Wilson CBE), have funded over 28 research projects for numerous cancer related conditions; Hope for Cancer inspire others to create solutions for the benefit of all and Dunlop are delighted that the auction of this bridge will help to further this vision.
Kate Rock, Consumer and Brand PR Manager comments: “We are proud of the legacy of Dunlop but we are even more excited for the future ahead, we continue to put people first and this new chapter for the bridge signifies the continuity of that message”.
During the weekend of the auction, buyers and Dunlop enthusiasts can track the auction and view further details via the Bonhams website; Follow us on Facebook at Goodyear_UK and Twitter @Goodyear_UK for the latest updates.
