Dress made from car tubes in line for design award
A dress made from inner car tubes is in the running for a design award in the Junk Kouture Recycled Fashion Competition, sponsored by Bank of Ireland.
Becarra Bandini is a dress designed and made by TY students Anna Coll, Úna Togher and Rachel Barrette from St.Josephs secondary school Castlebar. Una is the daughter of well-known tyre retailer, Joe Togher.
The dress has qualified for the Western regionals in March, which will be held in the TF Royale.
The dress was made to show off strong manual labour and the power of women. Many prints were cut out of inner car tubes by using craft knives and the dress has been strongly put together.
