Double win for Hankook at NTDA awards

Hankook Tyre UK has scooped two award wins at the 2023 National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) annual industry awards ceremony, held on 19th October in Milton Keynes.

Hankook Tyre UK was awarded ‘Tyre Industry Environmental and Sustainable Solution of the Year’, along with the ‘Industry Marketing Campaign of the Year’ award for its Facebook campaign entitled ‘Piece of Cake’ to coincide with the UK’s tyre safety month.

For its campaign, Hankook commissioned a cake artist to make a Hankook replica tyre – out of cake to create a mechanic to talk about tyre safety in a unique, thumb-stopping way. The campaign message highlighted that checking your tyres is easy to do and vitally important for safety on the road.

L-R: Paul Emery, sales director Hankook Tyre UK; Chris Freeman, MD of award sponsor The Tyre Group; Zoe Baldwin, marketing manager Hankook Tyre UK; and Simon Wright, national chairman, NTDA.

Paul Emery, sales director at Hankook Tyre UK said: “Everyone at Hankook is absolutely delighted to have receive the two awards at this year’s event, and we really appreciate the recognition of our team’s commitment and dedication.

“We are a relatively small team, which means every contribution to the business has an impact and everyone is immensely proud to have gained this valuable recognition.”

NTDA chief executive Stefan Hay added: “Hankook’s Piece of Cake campaign launched to complement TyreSafe’s Tyre Safety Month, was ingenious and its clever use of social media and streaming services to ‘enhance’ the safety message delivered excellent results within its target campaign audience.

“As with the Environmental and Sustainable Solution of the Year Award entry, this campaign just had the ‘star quality’ the judges were looking for and in both cases these were very well deserved wins.”

In addition, Hankook presented the National Chairman’s award for Outstanding Contribution to the Tyre Industry to Roger Griggs, communications director at ETEL, in recognition of his many years working in the tyre industry.
