It may be 10% larger in terms of floor space, but the Commercial Vehicle Show 2017 looks set to be as jam-packed as ever when it opens its doors next week – and there’s still time to register for FREE tickets at www.cvshow.com
With over 460 exhibitors, Halls 3, 3a, 4 and 5 of the NEC are fully sold out, with exhibitors from across the road transport, distribution and logistics industries.
For 2017, the show has some big names making a return. The free-to-attend show hosts two heavy truck manufactures, market leader DAF and MAN, along with Guest Trucks, a major distributor for Iveco.
While there are bound to be a number of surprises, one of the major news stories will be the reveal of DAF’s new Future Truck Chassis Concept.
Designed primarily as a distribution vehicle, DAF’s FTCC was developed as a collaborative project with Sapa Profiles UK and CSA Group, and co-funded by the UK government’s Innovate UK, and achieves a weight saving of 500kg over the truck maker’s 12-tonne LF chassis platform.
The show will also play host to some major new LCV launches, including the UK premieres of MAN’s new TGE and Volkswagen’s New Crafter, along with the Isuzu D-Max pick-up, three new body derivatives of the Peugeot Partner and the world’s first low-floor electric minibus in the form of the Mellor Coachcraft Orion E.
Trailers will play a big part, too, with major new product launches from Tiger, Cartwright, Montracon and Lawrence David, along with Chereau, Don-Bur, Ekeri, Gray & Adams, SDC, Tiger and Transdek which will be demonstrating solutions designed to save hauliers money and reduce emissions, maximise space and improve fuel economy.
Future developments will also play a huge part, with the CV sector promoting its position as a clear technology leader. It’s commercial vehicles that are, in several respects, pioneering the move towards advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and an increasingly autonomous future, while environmental pressures mean that the current generation of commercial vehicles is cleaner than ever, and getting even greener.
With advanced telematics, emissions technology and safety systems chief among them, the show offers a great opportunity to see these technological advances first hand, from companies both small and large.
Also new for 2017 will be two new live features, which are set to fuel discussion among visitors.
The new initiatives are the Innovation Hub, presented by respected industry title Motor Transport, and interactive Twitter Lounges, in which visitors and exhibitors can tweet their experiences and news live from the show.
The focus of the Innovation Hub is on exploring the latest developments in fuels, autonomous vehicles and logistics planning.
The 45 minute sessions will include expert speakers from Iveco, TRL and Transport Systems Catapult leading the discussion on innovation, followed by facilitated debate with speakers and attendees to explore the future developments and generate feedback from the audience.
The Innovation Hub will be housed in Hall 3 and will be free to attend – there’s no need to pre-register, just turn up and take a seat.
The panel of expert speakers, which will be announced at the show, will lead discussions on the following topics:
Fuels – the future thinking in diesel, electric, gas and hydrogen power sources.
Autonomy – the big industry issue of the future. What benefits will the connected truck bring to the industry?
Logistics – reviewing the freight models of the future. What are the opportunities for data management and collaboration?
The Innovation Hub is organised by Motor Transport in conjunction with the CV Show and sponsored by Smart Witness, Guests, TRL and Transport Systems Catapult.
Meanwhile, the Twitter Lounges will broadcast visitors’ and exhibitors’ tweets live, if the handles @theCVShow and #CVShow are used. It’s a great way for exhibitors to get their messages across, following three solid years of growth in the show’s social media presence.
