Cooper supplying off-road tyres to emergency services

Cooper Tires has partnered with Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team in Yorkshire, England.

Each provides first-response assistance, and Cooper will supply tyres to these organisations to fit vehicles like the Volvo XC90, BMW X5 or Land Rover Discovery 5 to provide the grip, versatility and durability needed.

The Cooper range of Professional Off Road (POR) tyres is designed and constructed specifically for use in challenging conditions. The testing process puts tyres through the harshest terrains to produce a strong and versatile product.

Cooper understands the unique challenges of building a tyre for the 4×4 off-road market with over a century of experience in the industry. A true off-road vehicle must work on a wider variety of surfaces and be robust enough to ensure excellent reliability.

This is equally true of the tyres fitted, with a number of Cooper innovations such as ‘Even Wear Arc Technology’ and ‘Whisper Grooves’ to give excellent longevity and cabin comfort.

Cooper’s line-up of 4×4 tyres contains a variety of summer and all-season fitments covering 15 to 22 inches. The Discoverer range caters to the needs of all 4×4 drivers, from all-terrain (AT) tyres with a 60:40 road:off-road focus, to POR tyres with Armor-Tek3 technology with a majority off-road focus.

Cooper’s range of POR tyres features the Armor-Tek3 construction for added durability, with a cut and chip-resistant tread compound and rugged block patterns to aid the discharge of debris. This results in a tyre that can tackle mud with enhanced traction and achieve excellent grip on difficult surfaces.

Armor-Tek3 takes a traditional two-ply radial structure and adds a third layer at an eight degree angle. This provides significantly greater strength and tear resistance compared to a traditional two-ply construction. In addition, Rugged Traction Shoulders provide increased off-road traction for boulder crawling and mud handling as well as additional resistance to abrasion and punctures.
