Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has selected two tyre models from Continental as an original equipment option for the Caddy.
The AllSeasonContact in sizes 205/60 R16 96H XL and 215/55 R17 98H XL, and the EcoContact 6 summer tyre in size 215/55 R17 98H XL have been approved.
Both tyre models are particularly optimised for rolling resistance and have received the highest rating ‘A’ in the EU tyre label, owing to their particularly high energy efficiency.
Continental boasts that it is one of the first tyre manufacturers to succeed in developing an all-season tyre that has obtained an EU tyre label rating of ‘A’ for energy efficiency. Technically speaking, this is a particular challenge, as Continental’s AllSeasonContact tyre has to provide optimum grip and maximum safety in both summer and winter time. Therefore, the AllSeasonContact combines decisive elements of Continental’s premium summer and winter tyres.
In a 2020 all-season tyre test conducted by the German automotive magazine Auto Bild, the AllSeasonContact tyre received an “exemplary” rating for its all-round capabilities and good price-performance ratio.
In addition, Continental is supplying the EcoContact 6 for the Caddy, which it says is characterised by its energy efficiency, high mileage, braking performance as well as good handling. The EcoContact 6 offers reliable grip on dry and wet roads as well as very good cornering stability, even at high speeds.
Thanks to the latest compound technologies, it features excellent deformation behaviour. The EcoContact 6 recently demonstrated its energy efficiency in the Auto Zeitung summer tyre test. It won out against nine other products from competitor manufacturers in the rolling resistance test and was awarded “Fuel-economy recommendation” by the editorial team.
Continental also offers the WinterContact TS 870 for the Volkswagen Caddy. Thanks to its impressive handling characteristics in all weather conditions, short braking distances, steering precision and good safety reserves, the winter tyre was most recently named test winner in the major winter tyre test by Auto Bild.
