Continental investing €13m at material handling plant in Sri Lanka

Continental has said it is investing around €13 million over the next three years into the expansion of its Specialty Tires business area in Sri Lanka.

According to Continental, by further enhancing local pre-production capacities, its Kalatura plant in future may produce material handling tyres self-sufficiently.

This ensures an optimised manufacturing process and limits cross-country dependencies in logistic supply chain, Continental said.

It added that customers will benefit from better product availability due to the optimised supply chain.

Continental expects an additional 200 jobs will be created at the Kalatura plant.

Continental’s Specialty Tires business area develops, produces and markets a great variety of different tyre applications. From agricultural, earth-moving and port vehicle tyres to material handling, bicycle, motorcycle and racing tyres.
