Continental hosts tyre information day at Mercedes-Benz World
Continental Tyres is an official partner of Mercedes-Benz World, the purpose-built facility in Surrey, UK that includes a test track and information centre with displays showing Mercedes-Benz models through the years including a range of F1 cars.
As part of the partnership, Continental has the use of a dedicated suite at the venue and uses the Mercedes-Benz fleet at the facility to carry out tyre tests and drive events.
In the past week, Continental organised a hands-on tyre information day for a selection of UK and Ireland “lifestyle and motoring content creators”.
Attendees at the event had the opportunity of hearing about all of the research and development that goes into producing Continental’s award-winning range of premium tyres.
Topics covered included: The latest developments in tyre technologies; the research that goes into optimising the safety and longevity of premium tyres; and the differences between all season tyres and summer tyres.
In addition to the theory elements, there was a strong practical focus to the day’s activity as the participants were able to experience a number of on track tyre tests using the Mercedes-Benz World fleet.
The tests included comparisons in relation Continental’s latest all season tyres product with ‘summer’ and winter tyres and a number of wet and dry braking tests.
Irish content creator Pamela Laird (pictured), was impressed with the tyre information day: “It was very interesting to see all of the research that goes into ensuring that tyres do what we all take for granted, stopping your vehicle safely when you need to.
“Both the theory and practical test elements of the day really brought home to me the importance of fitting good tyres on your vehicle.
“As I say, tyres are not something that most drivers give much thought to, but as a vehicle’s only contact with the road, they are crucially important for road safety.”
