Volkswagen has approved Nexen Tire’s N’blue S and Winguard Sport for OE fitment on its new Golf.

Edwin van der Stad has been appointed vice president OE Europe at Nexen Tire. The Dutchman, who was appointed in March, brings more than 30 years of industry experience and many years of experience in OE management to the Korean tyre maker.

Nexen Tyre, together with UK tyre distributor Staplton’s have signed former West Ham, Tottenham and QPR manager Harry Redknapp as brand ambassador.

Nexen Tire opened its new European manufacturing and distributing plant in Zatec, Czech Republic today, August 28. The $1b plant is a big part of the South Korean firm’s “new wave for the future global expansion strategy”.

Nexen Tire has committed to German football club Eintracht Frankfurt for another three years. The South Korean tyre maker has extended the partnership with the Bundesliga club, which started in 2012, until June 30, 2022.

Nexen Tire is once again the official tyre partner of Manchester City Football Club for the 2019/20 Premier League season.

Nexen Tire Europe’s new €829-million plant was due to open last year and is currently awaiting permission from authorities in the Czech Republic to start trial production at the new plant in Zatec, which is in the north-west of the country toward the German border.

Nexen Tire will supply original equipment (OE) tyres for the all new Chrysler 200, just as it did last year for the model’s predecessor, the Chrysler 200.

Team Nexen drivers Alan Sinnot from Ireland, Luke Fink, Australia, and Lluis Lopez, Spain joined a host of European drivers at the Drift Allstars Europe season opening event in Birmingham at the weekend where Team Nexen threw down the gauntlet to their competitors with an impressive 1-2 victory.
