Volkswagen has selected Falken to supply a derivative of its new Euorwinter HS449 winter tyre for the Polo. The OE-approved 185/60R15 85H tyres is the second contract the Japanese tyre manufacturer has secured with Volkswagen this year and follows the agreement to deliver its Sincera tyres to the Up!
Falken Drift Team driver Lars Verbraeken has become a Guinness World Record holder after achieving a new speed record for drifting. Driving his 503ps BMW E30 on Falken tyres, the Dutchman set the new record, achieving a speed of 111.59mph whilst keeping the car at a 45° angle for a distance of over 50 metres.
Falken Tyres is set to supply OEM factory fit tyres to the Volkswagen Up! city car. Volkswagen is the first European automobile manufacturer to commit to Falken’s high performance products and specify the Japanese tyre producer as an OEM supplier.
