Bridgestone suspends manufacturing activities in Russia

Bridgestone has today said it is suspending all of its manufacturing activities in Russia, effective Friday, 18th March until further notice.

The company added that it has also decided to freeze any new investments and suspend all exports to Russia with immediate effect.

Bridgestone said the decision was made after “carefully assessing the impact” Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has had.

Bridgestone employs over 1,000 people at its passenger tyre production plant in Ulyanovsk, Russia, and said it is offering financial support to those staff affected.

It added that its global and regional management will continue to “closely monitor the situation and flexibly adapt plans when needed”.

It expects manufacturing output outside Russia to “remain stable” in the coming weeks.

Bridgestone EMIA has so far made a €1 million donation to the Red Cross, in addition to the €2.5 million donated by Bridgestone Corporation to UNHCR (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees).
