Bridgestone celebrates 50 years of S Tyres with special presentation
Bridgestone Ireland recently joined with S Tyres in Cork to celebrate its 50th business anniversary. Best known for its Bandag retreads the company also retails Bridgestone car and truck tyres.
Bridgestone has a long relationship with S Tyres but it strengthened after the company’s acquisition of Bandag in 2006 and the start of Bridgestone’s work with the national bus fleet.
Bridgestone now works closely with S Tyres to supply retreaded Bridgestone casings for the Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann national bus fleets.
Bridgestone EMEA’s Waqqas Ahmad, director commercial replacement & OE made a special presentation to S Tyres at an event to mark the anniversary. He was joined by the North Region’s commercial director, David Almazan, and Mike Howling who leads the Bridgestone retread program in the UK and Ireland.

“The anniversary event was a very special occasion and we could see the S Tyres family work closely together along with our team members, most notably Martin Somers who manages our bus contract. We were very grateful for the attendance of Waqqas, David and Mike to acknowledge this significant anniversary.”
The company is situated in a historic motor industry area in Cork City close to where Henry Ford opened his first manufacturing plant outside the USA. O’Keeffe and some of his staff members have been involved with S Tyres for the full 50-years of operation.
